County purchases transfer trailers; JS board forgives food service debt – Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past few weeks:
Federal
• The House voted 254-175 to approve a bill to keep the government funded through early December. U.S. Rep. Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, voted yes. U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard, voted no.
County
• Lycoming County commissioners voted 3-0 to approve the purchase of three transfer trailers for Resource Management Services at a cost of $209,132. Tony Mussare, Rick Mirabito, and Scott Metzger voted yes.
• The Lycoming County commissioners approved a resolution affirming their support of the Second Amendment. Several people spoke at the meeting in favor of the resolution.
Municipal
• Loyalsock Township Board of Supervisors heard concerns from senior citizens about issues at the Senior Citizen Center operated by STEP. The seniors are concerned about parking and access to the building.
School District
• The Williamsport Area School Board meeting primarily consisted of parents and community members commenting on the state Department of Health’s order for students, staff and visitors to wear masks while inside school buildings.
• Superintendent Gerald McLaughlin shared with the Loyalsock Township School Board the amount of funding the district has received from COVID relief funds and how they have been and will be used in the district. Comments about the mask order were also a topic discussed.
• Jersey Shore Area School District board approved exonerating $667.85 in food service debts and $80 in technology debts due to students moving with no forwarding address. These debts were incurred before the free lunch program was instituted for school-age children.
