When you don’t wear glasses, you think you’ll never have to wear them. But, just like your health changes with time, the same thing happens with your eyes.
If you’ve never worn glasses before, you may think that you’ll never need them. But, nothing remains the same always. And if you stare at digital screens for a big part of your day, then you could use a pair of glasses.
From aging to unhealthy lifestyle habits, everything takes a toll on your ocular health. And some of the eye ailments are asymptomatic which means they are so subtle that they can easily skip your attention.
Vision problems can be taken care of only if we treat them as early as possible. If you’re not so good at judging the health of your eyes, we’ll tell you 10 signs that signal a deteriorating vision.
If you don’t enjoy your favorite book anymore as the letters have become a little blurry, you probably have developed farsightedness. One of the most common signs of eyesight deterioration is blurry vision.
So, if you’re going through the same problem, don’t let it go unattended. Get an eye test and wear prescription glasses if you have refraction in the eye. Glasses are much more comfortable than contact lenses. And with a number of stylish glasses for women and men, there are even people who wear glasses despite having no eye problem at all.
It’s normal to close your eyes a bit when looking at lights that are too bright. But, if you’ve started to do it a lot lately no matter the kind of lighting you’re in, there could be some problem in your eyes.
If you close your eyes a little bit to read an ebook or the road signs, you need an eye test. It happens when you have a refractive error in your eyes such as myopia or astigmatism. When the light is not focused properly on your retina, you close your eyes a little to see the image clearly.
Another reason behind this problem could be light sensitivity. People with sensitive eyes have this problem. You need tinted glasses or eyewear with photochromic lenses for your sensitive eyes.
When you have myopia or hyperopia, your eyes struggle to focus at certain distances. If you aren’t able to look at your computer screen clearly, then you may have something called myopia where your eyes lose their ability to focus on close objects.
However, blurry computer vision may also happen due to consuming a lot of blue light that’s emitted by your devices. Thus, when you spend hours on your smartphone, computer or laptop, your eyes become tired and you get blurry vision.
Our eyes are not wired to see clearly in low light levels. However, people with normal vision can see silhouettes of the objects if not the details in the dark.
However, poor night vision could also be a sign of a cataract. When cloudy patches form over the crystalline lens of your eye, it takes away your eye’s ability to see in the dark. These patches can get bigger in size with time and may even cause permanent blindness in some people if not treated early with surgery.
Headaches are common. They could be a result of stress, workload or financial problems. However, if you have frequent headaches along with some of the signs mentioned above, then something is definitely wrong with your peepers.
The nerves in your brain and eyes have a close bond. So, anything abnormal with your vision will trigger reactions in your brain as well. Book an eye test and get help from the experts.
This one is such a giving. Your eyes feel tired when you use them beyond their capacity or you don’t get enough sleep. However, if you’re feeling eye pain even when your peepers are getting enough rest, then the cause of the problem could be different.
You don’t have to put up with eye pain. Seek early treatment and get relief from this problem. Make sure you sleep well and use eyewear as prescribed by your doctor.
If you’ve suddenly started to see a grey shadow or floaters in your vision, then the problem is not ordinary. And if the floaters increase in numbers, then you should seek immediate help.
These are the most common signs of a detached retina which leads to permanent blindness if not treated quickly with surgery.
