Find out what the two plans offer
There are many Americans that either have an interest in getting Medicare or are considering signing up for the national health insurance program, but there are some differences that you should be aware of before agreeing to any plans.
It is important to know which plan is best for you, and for this reason understanding the distinction between Part A and Part B is clear.
Without going too in depth, Part A is the more generic parts of what you would assume health insurance is for, so aspects relating to any time you might spend in hospital. These therefore include inpatient care in hospital, skilled nursing facility care, nursing home care, hospice care and home health care.
Conversely, Part B covers areas that either help diagnose or treat your condition, or health care that helps to detect or prevent illnesses. Therefore, it covers things such as clinical research, ambulance services, durable medical equipment (DME), mental health and limited outpatient prescription drugs.
Medicare is unable to cover everything, so with Part A and Part B, there are some items and services that miss out. These include long-term care, most dental care, eye exams relating to prescribing glasses, dentures, cosmetic surgery, acupuncture, hearing aids and exams for fitting them, and routine foot care.
In short, yes. So long as this is not routine dental services, like cleanings, dentures or crowns, you might be able to get this via your Medicare plan. The dental services that Plan B helps with are the things that are deemed necessary as part of another covered service. This could mean doing so before oral exams in anticipation of a kidney transplant, extractions done in preparation for radiation treatments involving the jaw, reconstruction of the jaw following an accident, and outpatient exams required before an oral surgery.
However, there does not seem to be the same assistance available for those seeking vision services.
