Carrie Drake champions the best for people. She relentlessly drives to connect communities from inspiring women to have louder voices to linking technologies and missions, shaping the best outcomes based on collective goals. She has driven grass roots initiatives to formal organization constructs in the geospatial technology and intelligence community industries.
In 2004 she began working for her first nonprofit organization as membership coordinator. In her more than 10 year career as an association professional, she gained experience in membership services, event coordination, volunteer management & engagement, program development, communications, and outreach.
In her current role, Carrie leads the Government Marketing team for Maxar Technologies.
Passionate about the value of networking to build a community, Carrie has served in leadership roles for several volunteer organizations, including as a board member and co-chair of the Next Gen Council for the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, founding member of the grassroots group, the Amazing Women of the IC (AWIC), and President of Women in Technology (WIT).
Vice President, Strategy, Innovation, Marketing and Communications, RTI International
Andrea Mohamed is Vice President of Strategy, Innovation, Marketing and Communications for the largest of RTI International’s business units—Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES). SSES spans 14 divisions and accounts for over $700M in annual revenue and is home to approximately 3,000 researchers, technologists, methodologists, data scientists and data collection contractors working in health, education, justice, and climate change.
Andrea has led or co-led many successful initiatives that span RTI’s business and administrative units. She has been an enterprise leader coordinating RTI’s research response to COVID and other emerging health crises such as the opioid crisis and serving as a strategic advisor to RTI’s artificial intelligence and digital transformation efforts. In addition, over the past 6 years, she has spearheaded efforts to build a digital-first, client-centered marketing infrastructure for RTI. Her current efforts are focused on maturing the growth functions, leading culture change, and building greater strategic alignment throughout the organization to drive revenue and impact.
Andrea is a courageous leader and committed to addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges in work environments. She is also a Young-at-Heart Champion and senior advisor to RTI’s 500-person Young Professionals Employee Resource Group.
Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Akima
Joseph Pendry is the vice president of marketing and communications at Akima. He is responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive branding, business growth, and employee & stakeholder engagement.
Prior to joining Akima, Joe led Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) integration communications during the merger with Leidos, which combined the two entities to produce a technology and solutions company with more than $10 billion in annual revenue. He also served as vice president of communications at IS&GS, where he managed over 40 global communications professionals in marketing, media relations, employee communications, and creative solutions. Joe has held marketing leadership positions with General Dynamics Information Technology, Symantec, and successful technology startup companies.
Joe’s Akima team was honored in 2021 with a National Gold ADDY award from the American Advertising Federation. He has also been honored with a MarCom Gold award from the Association of Marketing & Communications Professionals and a Golden Quill from the International Association of Business Communicators.
Joe holds an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, as well as a master’s degree in public policy from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University (Ohio).

Lou Anne Brossman is the Founder and President of Government Marketing University. She has over 30 years of public sector government marketing leadership experience gained while working for some of the leading companies in the market (Juniper Networks, immixGroup, EMC). Her roots are in the manufacture world which enables her to better understand and relate to the corporate issues all government marketers are facing. She is a sought-out speaker on Government Marketing Best Practices and is well recognized and respected for her ability to drive Thought Leadership campaigns on relevant federal, state and local government policies and mandates. Lou Anne has served on numerous boards including immixGroup and Trezza Media and was a founding member of the Women’s Center Executive Council. Stephanie Geiger has 16+ years of experience in U.S. Public Sector marketing with various leadership roles at Professional Services firms, Value-Added Resellers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Most recently she held the role of Senior Vice President of the Virtual Marketing Division at Sage Communications. There she directed the strategy, planning, and implementation of integrated public sector marketing campaigns for technology companies and government contractors.
In 2015 Geiger helped to co-found Government Marketing University, filling the need for a marketplace of knowledge to support professionals responsible for marketing and selling into the U.S. Public Sector. Her passion is for helping to enable others in expanding their knowledge and gain in-depth insight into this unique marketplace. As Executive Vice President, she leads the company’s business operations, setting the annual strategic plan to ensure the mission of “For the People. By the People” remains at the forefront of all that Government Marketing University brings to this amazing community.
