Kaleida Health CEO Bob Nesselbush is leading the region’s largest health care system through a transformation that was prompted by the immediacy of the pandemic but will result in long-term change for both providers and patients.
Much of the shift will deemphasize services provided in person and in brick-and-mortar hospitals. He predicts greater reliance on technology, such as devices that remotely report patient vitals and other data to doctors, and he sees more hospital-based surgeries moving to low-cost ambulatory centers located in communities.
Nesselbush anticipates the savings reaped from the changes to be reinvested in the health care system and the personnel who work in it. Here, he describes how Kaleida is making the transition.
