Barely six months after Dell Technologies Inc. sold its Boomi integration platform to two private equity firms, Boomi Inc. has unveiled its hyperautomation vision among a number of new product announcements.
Boomi’s approach is designed to address the critical need for connectivity and automation to drive integrated experiences. The company’s vision is centered on its integration platform as a service, which can enable a customer’s data to be rapidly and easily connected across applications and ecosystems regardless of where it may reside.
“You have to make it simpler for people outside of IT to use the solutions,” said Boomi Chief Executive Officer Chris McNabb (pictured, left). “When we got started, things used to take months and months; it came down to weeks, it came down to days, it’s down to hours, and we’re looking at seconds to define connectivity. Point to something, hit an easy button, let’s get connected and get working. That’s our vision for intelligent connectivity.”
McNabb spoke with John Furrier, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the Boomi: Hyperautomation & the Future of Connectivity event. He was joined by Ed Macosky (pictured, right), senior vice president and head of products at Boomi, and they discussed a new service for integrating event-driven information and the importance of connecting both people and applications. The company’s latest announcements included the launch of Boomi Event Streams, an embedded event-driven architecture service. The EDA offering fully integrates event-based data to generate speed, flexibility and scalability within IT environments.
“It’s no longer about named connections and having fixed parts connected to applications,” Macosky said. “You need to be able to react intelligently, pick the next endpoint, connect very quickly and bring that into your ecosystem. We’ve connected over 189,000 different devices, application points, data endpoints to people, and we’re seeing that grow 44% year-on-year.”
The company also announced a new Discover catalog, a library of solutions installed directly into an organization’s Boomi platform account. The company’s focus is on optimizing the user experience by simplifying connection setup and access to ready-made solutions.
“It’s not only connecting systems, apps, databases and clouds,” McNabb noted. “You’re connecting people, processes and devices.”
