Amazon’s Prime Video, apps down for thousands of users – Al Jazeera English

Several Inc services, including Prime Video and applications that use Amazon Web Services (AWS), were down for thousands of users in the United States, while also affecting the company’s ability to provide regular updates on the outage.
Amazon said on Tuesday that the outage was related to network devices, and linked to an application programming interface, or API, which is a set of protocols for building and integrating application software.

Ring said it was aware of the issue and working to resolve it, while iRobot said a major AWS outage was affecting its iRobot Home app.
In June, websites including Reddit, Amazon, CNN, PayPal, Spotify, Al Jazeera Media Network and the New York Times were hit by a widespread hour-long outage linked to US-based content delivery network provider Fastly Inc, a smaller rival of AWS.
Users have experienced 27 outages over the past 12 months related to Amazon services, according to web tool reviewing website ToolTester.
Once valued at $9bn, the blood-testing startup Theranos collapsed after it was uncovered that its devices were flawed.
The rare call for a do-over vote is a major blow to Amazon, which spent about a year urging workers to reject the union.
It accuses Apple and Amazon of cooperating to restrict competition in the sale of Apple and Beats branded products.
Amazon is positioned uniquely via its many devices, platforms, and services to collect a mountain of data.
