Bay County Sheriff's Office provides holiday home checks this holiday season – WJHG-TV

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – It’s that time of year again where the Bay County Sheriff’s Office is implementing one service that could help protect your home while you’re out of town.
They call it the Holiday Home Check. This service is offered to give peace of mind to people of Bay County traveling for the holidays. Public information officer Ruth Corley said it doesn’t matter how long you’ll be out of town, the sheriff’s office is happy to do it. She said this service is one of the most important things you can use to keep your house and valuables protected this holiday season.
“(We) make sure we have someone that goes by your house extra, a couple of times a day sometimes and make sure nobody’s around your house that shouldn’t be, or there’s not a truck pulled up in front of your house loading things in and pulling away because nobody’s been at your house for a while. We do that to give people a little peace of mind while they’re gone,” said Corley.
Corley also says make your house look like someone is home, even when you’re not.
She said to register, call the sheriff’s office at 850-747-4700 and ask for dispatch. All you have to do is give them your address, how long you’ll be out of town and what you’re most concerned about.
