Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria is expanding its lunch offerings.
The Plaza Midwood restaurant will now offer lunch daily, up from three days a week.
Calle will dish up its traditional lunch menu, with takes on the Cubano sandwich — one Miami style and one Tampa, Florida, style — as well as soups, salads, appetizers and a mix of entrees.
The restaurant has added a hot bar option called La Cafeteria for take-out and dine-in service. Diners can choose a lunch plate with one entrée and two sides for $8. There will be set entree offerings as well as rotating specials based on the weekday. For example, Monday’s arroz con pollo will be featured with a fish of the day on Fridays.
The 100-seat restaurant opened in July at 1205 Thomas Ave. — once home to the Penguin Drive-In. It serves classic fare from Cuba to Peru, with flavors from Latin America.
The restaurant will open at 11 a.m. for lunch service.
Restaurateur Frank Scibelli‘s FS Food Group is behind that concept. It also operates Mediterranean eatery Yafo Kitchen, barbecue joint Midwood Smokehouse, Italian restaurant Little Mama’s and Paco’s Tacos & Tequila. A new concept, called Amma’s Pizza & Cheesesteaks, is under construction next door to his longtime midtown restaurant, Mama Ricotta’s.
