DIXON (WREX) — Local officials are calling on Dixon and Lee County residents to support their healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 surge.
Nurses, doctors and support staff from KSB Hospital and other hospitals in the region are working 80 plus hours while overwhelmed by rising cases.
KSB Hospital had 5 COVID related deaths in the last week.
“I know quite a few people who work at the hospital and beginning to realize how inundated they are with this latest surge to the point where it’s worse than when it was last year,” said Mary Oros, Dixon Councilwoman.”
City officials in partnership with the Dixon Chamber Main Street are coordinating appreciation meals as well as collecting donations – reaching just about half of their goal of $6000 in 24 hours.
“Dixon Chamber Main Street is excited to partner with Counselor Oros and the City of Dixon to help bring some joy and ease the burden on our taxed healthcare professionals during this current Covid-19 wave. We are helping raise funds through our wonderful community and business donors to provide two meals a week to KSB Hospital staff through the month of January,” said Jeremy Englund, Executive Director of Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street
Donations to support the medical staff at KSB can be found here: Helping Dixon – Feeding Our Healthcare Heroes.
