The Internal Revenue Service has issued a request for information on potential industry sources of information technology services as the IRS plans to launch a procurement effort for the second iteration of the Integrated Enterprise Portal program.
The IRS uses the IEP contract to secure application development, operations, hosting and security services for over 90 business applications that are mostly used during the annual tax filing season and intends to award a new EIP IT managed services contract during the second or third quarter of fiscal year 2023, according to the RFI notice published Monday.
The agency said the current IEP vendor provides hosting, application development and related services under a potential eight-year, $692 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract awarded in 2017.
The agency is also seeking information on potential vendors that could provide project and program management, technical analysis and system integration support to incorporate modernized business platforms into the IRS.
“Such support is required in all dimensions of the IEP 2.0 Program, including developing and supporting the deployment of new applications and innovations to meet evolving IRS taxpayer services,” the RFI reads.
Interested stakeholders should respond to questions on a number of topics, including service level objectives that could help the IRS effectively manage service performance and ways that could enable the agency to track and allocate IEP managed services at the application level.
Responses to the RFI are due Jan. 19.
