BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) — The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.
NEW POTENTIAL THERAPY FOR LEUKEMIA
Chinese scientists developed a new potential therapy to treat leukemia, a disease that kills about 300,000 globally every year.
The study published in the journal Science Translational Medicine showed that injecting nanoparticles carrying a certain gene segment could effectively clear those blood cancer cells in an animal model.
DATASETS ON QINGHAI-TIBET PLATEAU
China’s National Tibetan Plateau Data Center has collected and published more than 4,600 scientific datasets on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its surrounding areas, providing vital data support for the research on “the roof of the world.”
The institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences supported 689 scientific research projects and more than 450 SCI papers in 2021.
WOUND DRESSING
Chinese researchers developed a programmable and skin-temperature-triggered dressing that makes wounds heal much quicker than traditional bandages, said a study published in the journal Science Advances.
Scientists from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China devised a sandwich-structured wound dressing composed of deformable material, an antibacterial film, and two encapsulation layers that help seamlessly fit the irregular skin surface. Enditem
